300-seat theater presents "larger-than-life"
movies on a screen six stories high
and eight stories wide. As the only
3D IMAX® theater in the state
of Virginia, this venue puts the viewer
in the middle of the action ... literally!

The theater combines the latest in
three-dimensional viewing technology
with state-of-the-art surround sound.
It includes a colossal 13,500 watts
and six channels of digital sound.
The museum has available
assistive listening devices for those
with auditory impairments as well
as a captioning system for the deaf.
The Rear WindowTM Captioning System
permits individuals to view captioning
without showing the entire audience.
A light-emitting diode (LED) display
at the rear of the theater projects
captions in reverse. Then, through
a portable and adjustable transparent
panel attached to their seat, guests
view the reflected captions superimposed
on the movie screen. With the help
of software that synchronizes the
captions, guests view the dialogue
in time.
