From mighty Monica, an African elephant, to our flock of small love birds, the Virginia Zoo is home to over 350 of our furry, feathered and scaly animal friends. Our animals include exotic representatives from the African savannah, as well as friendly goats that you would find on a Virginia farm. Come spend a day with us in the animal kingdom.

The Virginia Zoo is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), a national nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting animal care, wildlife conservation, education, and science. We participate in many AZA programs and activities, including Species Survival Programs (SSP).
